Hi Adventurers,

Here we come to another important aspect each adventurer has to be familiar with. As we know, adventures can be associated with risks and injuries. And a good adventurer is always prepared to anticipate and manage them. Yes, I am talking about the first aid knowledge! To the benefit of all members of GHAC, we are organizing a FIRST AID TRAINING Course by St. John Ambulance Association, Hyderabad. This is an internationally valid certificate course needing participation of 8 hour activity for 2 days. Find details of the programme below. I am sure this course will benefit you not only for your outdoor adventure activities but you never know when in life this knowledge may help you. Also, this course is compulsory for all trek leaders, aspiring trek leaders and those involved in longer and difficult treks. It might eventually become a prerequisite for all active members who hope to keep trekking with us. Hope you take advantage of this opportunity.

Charges: Rs.600 per head. Includes course faculty fees, certification fees, light working lunch including high tea for both days. This is an estimate and actuals would be shared between all the attendees.

I've always wanted to learn this things too... In fact, some feedback I have is can you teach us (at least me) on how not to panic. I've seen some people in my family getting burned with hot water or having a seizure, and while the right treatment is hard enough, what's harder is to think of it and keep your cool.

Hey Archis, nice to hear about different but important aspect to handling emergency situations. As you rightly mentioned, the first thing is to keep your calm, analyse the situation, try and recollect what has been taught in this course and then be brave enough to act. Will talk about this to you in person. Hope to see you for the course!

It was a great learning experience...and learning in the right way...through more of practical experience and fun... Thanks to the meet up...now can go ahead and do at least the bare minimum which would help save lives...both my own and others...without the fear of doing something which would in turn worsen the existing situation... I believe we should have more such meet ups to give us more practical awareness in whatever we do...

First ever First aid course, good course structure, included lot of practicals, all delivered in a humorous and interesting way, thanks for vibha for arranging everything and thanks to Dr Ravi and Dr. Vishna from St Johns Ambulance who took care that everyone understood and did a hands on practice on first aid, all questions were addressed satisfactorily

Learnt a lot. Will be a lot more confident if a situation arises. Felt it could have been a little shorter. We can have such mini-meetups/workshop kind of events (indoor or outdoor) ... with topics directly or indirectly related to adventure. We can bring some experts to share their knowledge and experience. One topic I can currently think of is "Photography".
