Trek Not for kids . [Only Ages above 18 ]
Trek Genre : Medium Grade
We will be trekking 18km overall , if you are not used to it please don't RSVP and waste a spot
Only for people who start and end their trip from hyd, no middle join.
Guest will not be on , please register in GHAC if you have any guests , Registration is free and very simple.

Where ?

Yelagiri, at a height of 920 meters above sea level, stands majestically amidst four mountains. This is a hill station with a salubrious climate prevailing throughout the year so that winters do not keep visitors away. The main inhabitants of the area are the tribals who live in the 14 small villages which comprise Yelagiri. These tribals are engaged in agriculture, horticulture, forestry, etc. - all the occupations of rural hill folk. Their customs and habits, and especially the structure of their houses is unique and attracts a number of tourists to this hill station.

What we try to do ? : Options to pick from these + Jungle walk near YMCA camp

Swami Malalai Trek, the highest peak, soaring to 4,338 ft from Mangalam [ 4km + 4km]
YMCA to Karadi Malalai Trek [ 2km ]
Down hill Nilavur to Jalagamparai Water Falls [ 10km trek ] some what steep

Tentative Itinerary: [ things may vary later ]

Friday 7pm : Kachiguda Train to Bangalore
Sat 8am : Bangalore to Jolapettai [vechile from bangalore ]
Sat 10:30am: Arrival /Refresh , Taxi/Bus to Yelagiri Hills
Sat 12pm : Checkin Hotel / Lunch [ YMCA Camp ]
Sat 1pm : Trek to Swamimalai & back [ 3km + 3km ]
Sat 5pm : Jungle Trek [ easy hike 2km near Camp]
Sat 7pm : Tea/ Relax / Campfire
Sat 9pm : Dinner
Sun 5am : Wakeup call
Sun 7am : Early morning Down hill trek to Jogulamparai Water Falls 10km.
Sun 1pm : Back to yelagiri / Lunch / Relax.
Sun 3pm : Try some Rock Climbing Stuff.
Sun 5pm : Start to Bangalore from Yelagiri
Sun 10:30pm: Bangalore reach Kachiguda at 8:30am monday

Things to bring: [ All are must ]

Torch , Rain sheets /Umbrella
Trekking wear , Shoes & Extra pair of socks. [ Get good shoes and better if you are using them already]
*Extra snacks to make more friends .. :)
Bring very less lugguage,

Damages ..
2000 / - . we will share the cost if it is more than this , mostly it wont be ..
[ Food in train excluded ..., Please bring or order your favourite food]

Few things in between are not planned and these things are must in an adventure trek.
GHAC refund rules apply ...

* payment lat date 28 July 2010 ; WL candidates who pay will be pushed to RSVP there after;
Humble request please dont block spot if you are in doubt.

Note: Most of us may not be serious trekkers but all of us have equal responsibility in protecting our beloved earth. GHAC earnestly requests all its members to be socially responsible whilst the treks and avoid any littering, shouting when in wild or causing anything that would disturb the normal ecology. Try to avoid plastics as much as possible, especially plastic smiles.

Important Instructions:
1) no smoking and no alcohol
2) No littering, no pollution of water
3) This is not a luxury trip, but all care has been taken to make your trip comfortable
4) Food will be mostly vegetarian
5) We carry Basic First Aid and if you need anything you can ask the organizers
6) if you feel unwell bring to the notice of the organizers immediately.
7) If you cant swim don't go deep into the water

  @all , meetup is scheduled on Aug 21/22 weekend ,i have already talked to the Camp centre there and our accomodation is booked , lets explore yelagiri hills .. If you are not sure about these dates please change your RSVP and give chance to others ..
