Dandeli is the second largest wildlife sanctuary in Karnataka, Dandeli Wildlife Sanctuary, is full of undulating streams, whispering bamboo, diverse wildlife and innumerable trekking tracts. The river Kali and its tributaries, Kaneri and Nagajhari, meander through the moist deciduous and semi-evergreen forests.

Adventure Activities in Dandeli

White Water Rafting - white water rafting is a challenging recreational activity using an inflatable raft to navigate the Kali river and enjoy the scenery all along. Rafting is a thrilling and exciting sport that you will remember for a long time - The rafting trips are run by Trained professional guides and wetsuits and life jackets and helmets are provided for safety. - got some courage - try this and you will come out more confident then before

Rappelling - A descent of a vertical surface of a 200 feet cliff by sliding down a belayed rope while facing the surface and performing a series of short backward leaps to control the descent. - Rappelling is done under expert guidance of train professional guides with all safety equipment in place - want to conquer you fears - do this couple of times.

River Crossing - Similar to Rappelling but more difficult as there is no gravity to pull you down - here you have to use you hands to move horizontally across the river to the other side and back - got some bicep/triceps and deltoids muscles - use them here

Camping - Camping in our own Tents. Enjoy the night around the bonfire and gazing at the stars in the night.

Jungle Night Trekking - Here we delve deeper into the jungles with torches. here you may get to see nature, animals and nocturnal birds at night - what about ghosts ? lets find out

Bird Watching - Awaken to a thousand birds singing and enjoy a morning trek and listen to natures music and the tunes that will last for life long.

Natural Swimming Pool - Kali River got many beautiful, healthy, ecologically diverse and safe natural water pools where you can swim - watch out it can be cold.

This trip was more than what I expected. I really enjoyed every moment of this trip, river rafting was the best part. 9 Kms in the kali with 10 previously unknown people putting on a great team work.. really amazing part of the whole trip.... I loved rafting more than anything else because it was more of a team activity and next were the night safari and the trek to Kavala caves. I visited some small caves earlier, but this one was different.. not a very big cave, but good to start with.

Who attended?

  • 22 attendees
    •  Had fun with adventure activities , but it would have been better if we have two instructors rather than one for rappelling. 9km Rafting "ALL is Wet" was fun , Cavla caves crawl walking [ twice ] and night trek to see Firefiles are hightlights in the trek and offcourse campfire talks not so scary this time though. All Team members did almost all actitivties. I always believe its better to enjoy activities we could do in the available time than doing a tick mark to all.
    •  Had lots of fun.........

Overall, enjoyed the trip...nice group... Had few hiccups during the start of the trip, including unimaginable travel in A/C bus without A/C on and just two roof hatches open for ventilation... Tighter planning would have helped get more ticks on activities without comprising on the enjoyment quotient... Suggest that travel from Hubli to Dandeli to be taken on hired transport rather than public transport so as not to lose time due to missed bus, longer travel time and so on...
    •  good fun!! :D looking forward for more :D
    •  Awsome experience. This meetup was too good.. The group that attended was really good..White water rafting was the best part -like the cherry on the cake. Enjoyed every moment of it.. The night trek.. river crossing.. rappeling - it made me go crazy when i first looked down before even begining to descent..Thanks Shree for conducting this event...Guys... please upload photos asap. Looking forward to more trips with GHAC..
    •  This was my first out as a GHAC member and it didnot disappoint me, i loved every moment of it and would like to become more active in the adventure activities..
