Hi Adventurers,

No adventure comes without a risk. And an intelligent adventurer is the one who anticipates these, takes precautions and knows how to tackle them. Yes, I am talking about first aid knowledge! We at GHAC have once before conducted this First Aid Course and were received with overwhelming response. And like all successful treks have a part 2, this one comes again too.

The FIRST AID TRAINING Course is an internationally valid certificate course by St. John Ambulance Association, Hyderabad needing participation of 8 hour activity. Find details of the programme below. I am sure this course will benefit you not only for your outdoor adventure activities but anywhere and anytime in life. Also, this course is compulsory for all trek leaders, aspiring trek leaders and those involved in longer and difficult treks. It might eventually become a prerequisite for all active members who hope to keep trekking with us. Hope you take advantage of this opportunity.

Charges: Rs.750 per head. Includes course faculty fees, certification fees, light working lunch including high tea. This is an estimate and actuals would be shared between all the attendees.

Venue: check this map location http://files.meetup.c...
I would send you some more details about the venue soon.

Tentative Programme:
Sunday 21st March 9am to 5pm with breaks in between for tea and lunch.

The programme comprises mock drill, interactive session and hands on practice. Following topics would be covered - FIRST AID ESSENTIALS,TECHNIQUES AND EQUIPMENT, LIFE SAVING PROCEDURES, RESP.PROBLEMS, HEART& CIRCULATORY PROBLEMS, WOUNDS AND BLEEDING, MUSCLE INJURIES, BONE& JOINT INJURIES, FIRST AID RELATED TO ADVENTURE, ETC. THE C.P.R.TECHNIQUE, RECOVERY POSITION ARE THE PART OF THIS.

The course would be followed by theory exam. This need not run a chill down your spine. The whole idea is to be able to thoroughly understand the topic so that you can use these skills in the times of emergency unhesitatingly.

    •  Hey thanks a lot Vibha and Diyanath for this great opportunity.Really learned a lot today, i hope i never have to use it ( fingers crossed ;) ) but even if i do am better equipped now! thanks to St.John's Ambulance too!
    • Doctor - Medical Advisory Board
Very precise, contentful and effervescing course. Amazing energy shown by the instructors- Dr. Vishnu and Dr. Ravi as well as the attendees. Lots of hands on and practical demonstrations. Worth spending a sunday on :) Thank you all for your cooperation.
    •  Really knowledgeful. Came to know that most of the things we generally do are not the right ones and how illiterate we were in this Simple First Aid Gyan. Thanks Dr. Vibha and Diyanat.
    •  The Course on First Aid was very useful especially in breaking the common myths about things we normally do when a person is hit or injured. The energetic and humours tone of Dr Vishnu is worth specifying as because of him even the post kunch session was interesting. A very good and important session of everybody, Adventure and Trekking enthusiaistics in particular.
    •  It was very good crash course in First Aid. It was probably too much to learn in a single day and remember everything.
    •  Learnt a lot of life-saving tips! The teachers are very energetic and give practical knowledge along with live demo and enough time for us to practice. I felt the 1 day format is much better than the 2 day format that we had earlier.
    •  Instead of calling it First Aid....I would like to call it Life Saving techniques that all of us got to learn during this course!! Great and enthusiastic Doctors!! Thanks to Vibha and Diyanat for putting in best of their efforts to make it a success!!!
