Hampi has been known for its ruins in general. I remember this from my school days, there was a specific lesson on Hampi civilization. Well this is one side of story that is intresting for tourists and history enthusasts.

However, many adventure lovers know this place as one of the challenging bouldering place with a lot of new problems to be sovled. This is what we are going to explore in this very tour. If you are looking for sightseeing only, please do not RSVP.

Now the popular FAQ: What do we want to do in such a historic place?

Trek four popular hills:

  • Hemakunta : Small hill - takes 10 minutes to summit
  • Matanga : Easy - takes 30 minutes to summit. We will do this on Sunday Morning starting at guest house as early as 4.30 AM and wait for sun to rise on Tungabhadra for great pictures.
  • Anjaneya: Easy - medium: Takes 45 minutes to summit.
  • Malyavanta: I belive it is also an easy to medium one with road access to summit. We will choose to find a trail and trek up instead of using the road.

  • All the hills offer boulders with wide vareity of problems. We will choose the boulders on the way up and spend decent time in concurring those.
  • We are trying to contact bouldering trainers in Hampi. If we get somebody, we would hire a trainer on hourly basis.
  • Explore ruins on bicycle.

Now the Fun Awards: Best Jism Award - Sundar. "Jism" in the all the contexts of discussion was a big hit. If we do a word count, Jism probably would be 50% above the next most repeated word. Thanks to Sundar in succesfully introducing the word for fun.

*Ravi Sankar* was judged the fastest up+down climber. He managed the pace of up climbing and down climbing so well that he made it look ridiculously easy both ways. *Swetha Narula* was the Most spirited Climber awardee. The never give up attitude and incredible will to overcome the challenge was very inspiring.

      •  This was my first trip with GHAC, it was excellent. All the Guys, trekking and bouldering were awesome. Special thanks to Ranga for making this trip memorable.
      •  Enjoyed. Great people and lots of fun. Bouldering was awesome... never though you could cling on small cuts and move to the top. Lot of good memories... got bruise after a long time... monkey snatch incident... "jism" and "aapko dekha to..." running jokes were great :)

Superb efforts by Ranga. enjoyed a lot the train journey, playing cards near door, singing songs, eating, drinking chitchatting and it continued throughout the trek. first day it was full trek and second day we concentrated on Bouldering and some time we took in the evening to cover the Hampi ruins. Bouldering is still in our minds... we got so inspired to do it again and again... Such a superb team made the whole event so much memorable...... GHAC Jai Ho!!!
      •  nice trek
      •  Awesome experience. Bouldering was definitely the best part of this trip, and the entire experience - train journey, trekking, meeting new and great people, food ;) - was amazing. And yes, thank you Ranga for being a great host.

It is lot of fun bouldering in Virupapura gaddi. We also had an opportuinity to watch some of the proffessional climbers conquering several wrongly shaped boulders. I fancy the dream of conquering at least one of the sister rocks in next SEVERAL years to come :). Group is awesome and fun loving. It was so relaxing all the time with every discussion leading to singing songs. The anjaneya hill and Sundar's bunder were fun to watch! Hoping to see someone posting a video of this. I still have those huge boulders in my memory and in my dreams as well. I couldnt sleep but was just savouring the boulders. I will defintely do it once again in Virupapur gaddi and probably camp next to the boulders and using every chance to try various moves.
      •  Singing all the way.. jism talk :P And "aapko dekh ke aisa nahi laga tha" :P Awesome fun group. Boludering was nice.
      •  Had a wonderful time with wonderful people at the wonderful place. Got a chance to do natural bouldering (rock climbing) for the first time :-) Looking forward to do this more times. Got lot of inspiration after seeing all foreigners doing this even with blindfolded also. Kudos to Ranga for organizing this and introducing GHAC to new adventure.
      •  It was one of the best treks I've ever been on.. True sense of adventure.. Bouldering.. Man, want to do more of it.. It was so much fun.. And the group was perfect.. Thanks to special Jism jokes by Sunder and his encounter with his ancestor ;) Ranga - thanks a ton for organizing this wonderful event. Looking forward to Hampi 2 :)
      •  Awesome Trip....The adventure began right from the train journey.....3 cheers to the organizers for such an awesome trip....and yeah u'll get the details of the trip very shortly :)
