The Narsapur forest is 45 KM north from Hyderabad in the Medak district. spread between Gummadidala and Narsapur towns. This forest spans over 30sq km and has a mini-ghat section, thick forest, a hill, a large lake, a good number of birds, butterflies, varied flora and fauna and our ancestors (monkeys). Lately, this has become a hotspot for Telugu film shootings.



When: 09 Jan 2010
Trek Grade : Easy to Medium (4-5 hours of trekking in the forest)
Things to do: Trekking, hill climbing, visit the lake
Cost: Rs 150
Route: start from Panjagutta - Ameerpet - Balanagar - Jeedimatla - Medak Road - Narsapur

Precautions
No smoking, No booze
Only vegetarian food to be carried in lunch boxes
Don't litter

Transport
Car pool based on no.of trekkers. ( those bringing cars will get petrol expense shared among the group)

Tentative Itinerary:
6.45 AM: Assemble at Big Cinema / Big Bazar - Gold Spot Ameerpet
7:00 AM: start for narsapur
8:00 AM: reach narsapur near Ayapa swamy temple
8:15.00 AM: briefing and introductions
08:30 AM - 1:30 PM Trek around in the jungle
01.30-2 PM: Rest for lunch - back to cars
2.00 PM: Drive to the Narsapur lake
2:30 PM: Climb Adjacent Hills to the lake side
4:00 PM: A walk and talk around the Lake
6.00 PM: Start for Hyderabad


Things to Bring:
Backpack/duck bag
Fruits/Vegetables/Chocolates/Munch bars/Snacks/LUNCH/
Raingear/Cap/Umbrella/Windcheaters
Wear only sport/Trek shoes and loose tracks
Wear long sleeves clothes to avoid injuries from bushes/shrubs/thorns
Water Bottles - 3 Liters ( there is no water source)
packed Lunch no hotels nearby
Compass/GPS phone / GPS device
a mat/bed sheet for resting
Band-aid/medications(if any)/Glucose - D
Cameras to click kodak moments!
Lots of energy and smiles

Documents
valid Govt issued Identity Card for everyone
Vehicle RC, driving license, insurance with pollution certificate.


Rules
* a member, who has never done any treks with this group gets FIRST priority
* a member, who is ready for car pool will get SECOND priority

    Its was the best way to have an opening ceremony of trekking in Hyd!!! The place was great, given the added advantage of low sunlight making it easy to trek!     I couldn't join on time but followed later with my son. We both hiked by ourselves. The spot is a great place and so close to Hyd. Incidentally a group of local journalists met me at the parking and took notes about the hike and this group. They are publishing about this trip in Medak edition of Eenaadu. Look forward to other trips.
